Workshops

No writer is an island.

Part of the reason we publish a select number of titles is because of our commitment to writer development and the editing process. Behind the scenes, we spend months with each writer focusing on character development, plotting, dialogue and other elements that increase the reading experience.

But in reviewing our submissions, we’ve noticed that many writers could benefit from editing and development pre-publication, and some of you have asked for this when you submit your content. Careful writing and editing can mean the difference between finding yourself on the bottom of the rejection pile or landing an agent or a publishing deal. Yet many writers do not take the time to ensure that they are putting their best work forward, and that their work has received critical feedback that can enhance the final product.

We recognize that writers events and conferences can be expensive, or that you may not be part of a writers’ circle or group that provides feedback and the type of constructive criticism that can significantly strengthen your work.

Beginning in January 2012, we will offer beginner and advanced writer workshops to help you get started or refine your work in progress. Each 12-week session will take place online and feature: a review of key writing elements; writer prompts and exercises; group chats and critiques; digital reading sessions, and one-on-one feedback on your work-in progress.

Below are the 2012 workshop dates:

Fiction I Workshop: January 18-April 4, 2012, June 12-August 28, 2012, October 3-December 19, 2012

Fiction II Workshop: March 5-May 21, 2012, June 13-August 29, 2012

Each session will be limited to 15 writers.

Whether you plan to submit your work to an agent or publisher, or self-publish, our workshops will help you refine your work and bring your vision to life. For workshop details, please email workshops[at]plenarypublishing.com.
